COURSE DESCRIPTION
 
Welcome to the ITPE website. Our physical education program is a fun and exciting cirriculum filled with learning. We stress the importance of physical education to our students. ITPE is a coeducational course and all young women and men are welcome. Our main goal is to keep students involved and devoted to life-long involvement in physical activity.  At the end of each two week segment, the students are given a ten point exam over the material they had just learned.  Our students learn concepts, skills, and techniques involving individual and team sports, overall health, and physical development. We incorporate all of this together in a fun and exciting program.

Our philosophy at ITPE is to teach students skills and objectives of healthy physical activity through the process of actually doing them.  Learning by doing is our goal and we work hard to get every student involved in every activity.  We feel that if a student enjoys even just one of the activities we do, that student will continue to be involved in that activity for the rest of his/her life.  Life-long involvment in physical activity is our number one goal at ITPE.

WHAT WE'RE DOING NOW
 
We have just completed our fourth week of class.  We completed our segment on Ultimate.  Our students really improved their frisbee throwing skills.  They found out just how much of a workout Ultimate really is.  We had a lot of fun.  These next two weeks we will cover inline skating.  We will be having fun and getting great exercise.   Our program currently includes Ultimate, inline skating, badminton, archery, golf, basketball, volleyball, step aerobics, weight training, fitness dance, and team handball. Our outline for this semester is listed below.

PLAN FOR SEMESTER

Weeks 1-2: Importance of Physical Education & Physical Fitness Testing
 
Weeks 3-4: Ultimate
 
Weeks 5-6: Inline Skating
 
Weeks 7-8: Badminton
 
Weeks 9-10: Archery
 
Weeks 11-12: Golf
 
Weeks 13-14: Basketball
 
Weeks 15 -16: Team Handball
 
Weeks 17-18: Step Aerobics & Fitness Testing

CLASS RULES:

1.  Respect all students and instructors.

2.  Listen when the instructor is speaking.

3.  Enter the gym quickly and quietly.

4.  Keep your hands to yourself.

5.  NO CHEWING GUM.

6.  Wear proper gym clothes.(shorts/wind pants, t-shirt, tennis shoes)

7.  Follow instructions properly.

8.  No foul language.

9.  Compliment fellow students.

10. HAVE FUN!

GRADING POLICY
 
Daily Grades:  Participation           2 points
                      Proper dress code  1 point
                      Follows all rules     2 points
 
End of Segment Tests:                10 points each
  (9 total)
 
 
TOTAL GRADE:    Daily Grades= 80%
                           Test Grades= 20%
